Every e-invoice needs LHDN-specific fields: TIN, MSIC code, and classification codes

In forceformatEffective 2026-01-01

Malaysian e-invoices require data your current invoices probably don't carry: your Tax Identification Number (TIN), your buyer's TIN, your MSIC business activity code, and item classification codes — around 55 fields in total. Invoices missing required fields are rejected by MyInvois before they ever reach your customer.

What to do

1
Collect TINs for your regular business customers now — chasing them at invoice time delays payment
2
Look up your correct MSIC code and item classification codes once, then template them
3
Decide: free MyInvois portal (fine for low volume) vs API integration through software (better above ~50 invoices/month)
Risk if ignored: Missing fields = rejected invoice = unpaid invoice. The cash-flow hit precedes any fine.
